The new year wouldn't even begin without music all over the world... The Pannon Philharmonic does the same on January 2 every year. For more than two decades, one of the city's most prestigious and poshest social events has welcomed its guests with a show full of surprises in the Great Hall of the Kodály Centre, embellished with stunning floral decorations. It is now tradition for Tibor Bogányi to conduct the evening, encouraging guests to perform the "Pécs-applause," with animated movements and joy overflowing into the auditorium. In return, the audience applauds to the familiar rhythm of The Radetzky March in several parts. The audience voting will end during the intermission: at the end of the evening, it will be revealed who was the audience's most beloved male and female musician in the PFZ in 2026.
