Pannon Philharmonic Festival Choir (choirmaster: András Vass)
The atmosphere, the vibe that the name The Nutcracker evokes, is a childhood memory for all of us: the anticipation of the holiday season and the sparkly magic of Christmas.
The Nutcracker, the composition itself, is also an encounter between time periods, cultures, and artistic fields. E. T. A. Hoffmann's multi-layered story, re-written and re-processed many a time, and I. Tchaikovsky's powerful music, an eternal inspiration for film composers, has offered novel approaches time and time again since the end of the 19th century.
The Pannon Philharmonic's new production in December speaks to a 21st-century audience through contemporary visuals, re-imagining Clara and the Nutcracker's Christmas Eve adventure by combining animated motion pictures and contemporary digital light art, while revisiting each character's mission.
The event's designer and director is Éva M. Tóth, a Balázs Béla Award-winning animator and graphic artist. Gergely Krisztian Tóth, a leading graphic artist and motion designer, is the production's artistic director. Cinematographer Jenő Kiss serves as the creative team's production manager, and the creators work for Forward Production.
