Müpa Budapest will hold the György Solti International Conducting Competition between 1 and 10 October 2026, with the aim of giving young conductors from many parts of the world the opportunity to compete in front of prominent representatives of the profession in Hungarian concert halls boasting the finest acoustics in the country, with the involvement of internationally renowned Hungarian orchestras, thereby providing support in launching their careers.
The preliminary round will take place between 1 and 4 October 2026 in the Concert Hall of the Kodály Centre in the city of Pécs, with the participation of the Pannon Philharmonic. The 24 competitors who reach the preliminary round of the Solti International Conducting Competition will be assigned two pieces to conduct. Before the performance, a draw will be held to determine which pieces each competitor will conduct.
