Musik der Meister The Pannon Philharmonic in the Musikverein I

It wasn't only Munkácsy who created a Christ Trilogy, but Liszt did too. In fact, he painted the very scenes of Jesus' life in the 14 tableau pictures -divided into three groups - that Munkácsy had left out. What kind of "painter" was Liszt? Monumental, colourful, sublime, yet personal. He wrote his oratorio Christ over almost 20 years, and although Liszt long sought a suitable librettist, he eventually composed the text himself. And although there is no narrative or dramatic plot in the story, one can easily spend an entire evening with the angel who announced Jesus's birth, the shepherds, the Magi, the Apostles, those celebrating and following Jesus, Mary standing first next to the manger and then her son's cross, and finally, the joy of the resurrection. You must too experience it!
