This year's concert commemorating the deceased will be a Polish-Hungarian collaboration, featuring Italian, Polish, and German music. And just as joy is universal, so is grief, so we can experience others' emotions far away in space and time, regardless of age or geographical location.
Antonio Maria Bononcini was an Italian Baroque cellist who composed many operas and church pieces. His Polish contemporary, Gorczycki, processed four Latin hymns related to the Catholic mourning rites in his Conductus funebris. This is not only graceful but also solemn music. The Bach cantata, commonly known as Trauerode (Mourning Ode), is one of Bach's most personal and most noble secular cantatas. Mozart's Requiem generally comes to mind when we think of mourning music, but music literature has lots of beauty in store for us in other pieces as well. At this concert, you'll have the opportunity to hear some of them.
Co-financed from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the Inspiring Culture programme.
During the evening, you will have the opportunity to hear a performance by the Wrocław Baroque Ensemble.
