Friedrich Gulda: Concerto for cello and wind ensemble
Nearly everyone knows Shostakovich's famous waltz. But what other music pieces are related to the waltz? And were some of these pieces written in the 20th century? Of course, they were! Most likely, not even Shostakovich himself would have supposed that his suites written for a variety orchestra would garner such success, or that they were so jazzy that later they would be referred to as "jazz-suites". These beloved pieces will make the audience dance at this concert, and of course, Friedrich Gulda’s Cello Concerto. Gulda was an acknowledged jazz pianist but also played classical pieces extremely well. His Cello Concerto will feature, besides the cello soloist, a wind orchestra, percussion, and a guitar, with idylls, dance, march, and a virtuoso firework. It would be a shame to miss it!
