The Pannon Philharmonic in Osijek (Eszék) II
Residency program in Osijek
Igor Stravinsky: Petrushka
A spectacular hit, an orchestra tableau and ballet music from a commedia dell’arte. The Pannon Philharmonic are delighted to return to Osijek to play some of the most beloved pieces of their repertoire for an already familiar audience. The concert will begin with Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto in B-flat minor, which the pianist originally intended to perform at its world premiere but found impossible to play. Ever since, however, it has been performed with great success many a time. Ravel’s Une barque sur l'ocean is one of the feats of Impressionism, in which the composer attempted to "teleport" the water mass and the waves of the ocean to the flat and dry floor of the concert hall. Stravinsky's popular burlesque piece, presenting the story of a harlequin, is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for orchestras and choreographers.
