In October, the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra will be staging Verdi's magnificent opera Aida at the Kodály Centre. This exclusive performance will feature renowned performers from Hungary and abroad, as well as the Hungarian National Choir.

Verdi’s Aida is the most mature work of the composer’s middle period, showcasing the pinnacle of his expertise up to that point. Thanks to the outstanding singers and unparalleled acoustics of the concert hall, the opera can be performed in its most authentic form at the Kodály Centre, which Chief Conductor, Gergely Kesselyák who conducted last year's Turandot, described as follows: “A sound is truly high-quality when its overtones are rich and beautifully vibrant and this room showcases those overtones magnificently with its resonant acoustics.

It’s a pleasure to hear. I can almost picture the sound starting and ending in a spherical shape or perhaps billowing like a robe. Such nuances can be observed at these sound levels in this acoustics, which is truly unique in the world. When I hear the singers here, I feel they should perform in such an acoustic space every night.”

Outside the capital, only the concert hall in Pécs has an orchestra pit large enough for works that require extensive performing apparatus, such as Verdi's Aida.
