Friedrich Gulda: Concerto for cello and wind ensemble
Shostakovich's famous waltz is known to almost everyone. But what kind of music is related to waltz? And is there such music also in the 20th century? Of course, there is!
Probably not even Shostakovich himself believed that his Suites for Variety Orchestra would be such a success, or that the music was so jazzy that the pieces would later be referred to as jazz suites. This lovely composition will make the audience dance at this concert. And, of course, Friedrich Gulda's Cello Concerto! Gulda was an accomplished jazz pianist who excelled in the classics. In the Cello Concerto, a wind band plays the drums and the guitar in addition to the soloist. It has an idyllic quality, with some dance, a march, and virtuoso fireworks. It would be a shame to miss it!
