In the compilation of concerts, ensembles often try to focus on less well-known masters, compositions or contemporary pieces in an attempt to broaden the audience’s musical comfort zone. This time, however, we polled our audience itself about what their concert choices would be. Based on the votes, Haydn and Mozart seemed to carry the day as the most popular composers, and Dvořák’s New World Symphony triumphed as the most beloved composition. It appears that there are certain ever-liked masters and works whose popularity doesn't fade with time or with new composers taking to the stage of music history. Therefore, at the audience's request, we will play the overture of Mozart's exceptionally noteworthy opera, Don Giovanni, then Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major, a composition long believed to be lost. Finally, the audience can, of course, hear the New World Symphony, which didn’t only open up a new world in America but also the world of movie scores.
