Fifteen Hungarian peasant songs is a composition by Béla Bartók. The originally solo piano pieces were transcribed into a large orchestra by the creative minds of the Modern Art Orchestra (MAO): Kristóf Bacsó, János Ávéd, Gábor Subicz and Kornél Fekete-Kovács. In the transcription, the creators took a special care to preserve the original form and vocals of the songs. The improvisations led by MAO’s outstanding musicians builds a bridge between the performances of the fifteen folk melodies.

During its eleven-year existence, MAO has grown into an internationally acclaimed orchestra dedicated to a number of musical genres, including jazz, pop, classical and contemporary music. Over the years, they have won numerous awards and recognitions and has given countless of concerts: they regularly performs at the Budapest Music Center in Budapest, tour throughout Europe, the United States and Israel, and have played with such legendary artists as Tom Harrell, David Liebman, Chris Potter, James Morrison, Bob Mintzer, Rhoda Scott, Adam Nussbaum and Ennio Morricone.

The musical material of the concert is imbued with Bartók's heritage; MAO evokes thespecial feeling of life in Central and Eastern Europe by a composer and musicians directly from its homeland.
