Oh, Vienna. The splendid former imperial city and first stronghold of the Western world is famous for so many peculiarities: the Waltz, the Wiener schnitzel, Freud, and countless Baroque memorials. But at the end of the day,  one will inevitably associate Vienna with music, specifically the Viennese classics. The Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, under the guidance of Chief Conductor Tibor Bogányi currently residing in Vienna, will conjure an authentic Viennese night for its Budapest audience, featuring three of the city’s eminent composers: Schönberg, Mozart and Schubert, and three of their monumental pieces. The program presents the music of Vienna as well as the city’s influence on Mozart and Schubert, an influence that Arnold Schönberg would set onto new foundations a century later. The featured pieces are considered virtuoso testimonies of the era and their composers’ mastery of the genre in their own music. As Mozart and Schubert were inspired by many non-Viennese influences, so too did they inspire many 20th century non-Viennese composers, including Schumann, Mendelssohn, and Schönberg. An authentic performance is guaranteed by the Orchestra from Pécs and the conductor from Vienna.
