Raising the stakes

The 2025/2026 ALL-IN Season of the Pannon Philharmonic at Müpa

The orchestra traditionally gives each concert season a memorable, thoughtful and eloquent title. The concept of ALL-IN, which means "comprehensive and all-encompassing " might be familiar from poker. PFZ has had a sold-out series at Müpa, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It also "raises the stakes" in its Pannon Series, consisting of five Friday night concerts: it spends 1% of its revenue from the season tickets sales on tree planting in gratitude to the forests for the musical instruments, the sheet music and the wooden acoustic covering of the concert halls. The orchestra's high standards and excellent quality show not only in their concerts' sophistication and precise planning but also in communing with the audience and in their attempt to work with sustainability.

With their series subscriptions, announced on National Tree Planting Day, the ensemble delivered a strong message to its audience: Although music is "everything" for PFZ, the orchestra contributes to a more liveable world not only through the detoxifying, stress-relieving, and healing effects of its concerts but also through tree planting.

This central actor in the Hungarian music scene for nearly twenty years now has been working under the professional guidance of their chief conductor, Gergely Kesselyák, since 2024. In their rich repertoire, compiled with a demand for completeness, the ensemble invites the most outstanding soloists to the stage. In the next season, PFZ will ask us: What is the "all" that we invest into our lives? The orchestra will certainly not only give its innovative thinking and excellent professionalism, but as the ambassador of quality, they will also play with joy, dedication and responsibility. In this way, each of their concerts carries very high added value beyond their excellent musical standards. The concerts were compiled to meet the demand for completeness, not only for one evening but the entire series and even the whole season.

In the Pannon Series, available at last year's price, the finest music will be performed by the most outstanding soloists: Besides the classics of Ravel, Mozart, de Falla, Rachmaninov, Berlioz, Debussy, Bartók and Sibelius, the cello concerto written by the orchestra's concertmaster and composer Zoltán Bánfalvi will also can be heard. Thus, we can encounter Tibor Bogányi, the orchestra's permanent guest conductor, not only on the podium but also as an instrumental soloist. The pianist Fabian Müller, another legendary cellist, the Armenian Narek Hakhnazaryan and our finest Hungarian violinist Barnabás Kelemen will be collaborating with such conductors as Maestro Gilbert Varga, Tibor Bogányi and the Spanish conductor who also excelled in orchestra building, Roberto Forés Veses. With his visual talent, Gergely Kesselyák uses sounds to create drama on stage and catharsis in the auditorium. This season, the soprano Heidi Stober will represent the ladies.

So, the PFZ raises the stakes. The question is, will we hold the stakes? Will we give ourselves in body and soul to this exciting but often seemingly unknown world for the duration of a concert series?

True to tradition, the audience can meet the PFZ staff in the Glass Hall of Müpa on 16 May from 5.30 pm to 10 pm to renew or purchase their new subscriptions.

You can renew your subscription until 31 May and purchase new subscriptions until 26 September.
