We’ll admit something, but psst! No word about it to anyone! The Nutcracker is one of our favourite productions. We have staged the great classic, The Nutcracker, in the Kodály Centre in collaboration with Ballet Pécs and the Bóbita Puppet Theatre with the purpose of creating a new tradition so that families, companies of friends and school groups can come to us before each Christmas to recharge their batteries with a fairy tale and some magic.

"Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet, The Nutcracker, is a bit like a delicious poppy-seed roll – it is great in every season, yet the best at Christmas."

The above quotation comes from the niche-filling publication ″Phantastical Classical″, which we cherish in our hearts not only because of the delicacies mentioned above but also because by scanning the QR code in the book, you can listen to the full versions of numerous music pieces featured, interpreted by the Pannon Philharmonic. You can listen to the miraculous music of The Nutcracker by clicking HERE, but it is worthwhile to browse the YouTube channel of the Pannon Philharmonic at pannonphilharmonic youtube to hear some more heart-warming music and videos of the orchestra’s life.

NEW YEAR’S GALA CONCERT

From 7 pm on 2 January 2023

As each and every year, it will be more than just a ″simple″ concert! Our orchestra has welcomed the residents and visitors to Pécs to attend the most high-ranking social event for many years. During the intermission, the audience is cordially invited to a champagne toast. The Lodge Members sponsoring the ensemble will be welcome to join us at a standing reception following the concert. During the New Year's concert, you can still vote for your favourite musician; then within the framework of the exclusive reception, we will celebrate this year's two audience favourites: a female and a male musician from the orchestra.

All visitors will understand the music, while the punches in Hungarian will prove to be a good language lesson.

The event’s host is Ádám Bősze, one of the most well-known public figures of classical music in Hungary today; the night's conductor is the Liszt Award-winning Máté Hámori, the artistic director of the Danubia Orchestra Óbuda. This way, beyond the great quality music with a surprise programme, you can also relish a wonderful sense of humour and music historical curiosities.

Ticket prices: 15.000, 12.500, 10.000, 7.500 HUF

Why not give spring for Christmas?!

At the first concert of the series, in March, you can listen to the internationally celebrated pianist Józsi Balog’s glamorous Gershwin recital.

On 1 April, Ádám Bősze’s funny and unveiling Amadeus night will follow. We particularly recommend it to learners and speakers of Hungarian.

In May, our audience can enjoy the performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream, this time dreamt up and directed by Zsolt Hamar. We seriously appreciate youth, so for children and teenagers between 6 and 18 years, with a 100% discount: 0 HUF. For young adults of 18-19 years, with a 90% discount, for 4000 HUF. For visitors between 20 and 29 years, with an 80% discount, for 8000 HUF, and so on. We do appreciate youth.
