Zsolt Horváth Stays and Carries On

The City Council of Pécs has re-elected the director of the Pannon Philharmonic.

Zsolt Horváth has been commissioned to lead the orchestra for another five years. During the director position competition process, the current leader of the Pannon Philharmonic was unanimously supported by a 9-member professional committee, the Cultural Committee of the City Council of Pécs, and the Council of the City of Pécs. The current mandate of the director is expiring on 30 June 2016, his new one starts on 1 July and runs until 30 June 2021.
Zsolt Horváth has been the director of the Pannon Philharmonic since 2003. For that time, the resident orchestra of the Kodály Centre, Pécs has become one of Hungary’s determinative orchestras, with international qualification. Since the 2003 renewal, creation of high quality artistic processes and their supportable, innovative management activites has stand in the focus of the orchestra work.
In the last decade, the Pannon Philharmonic has positioned itself among the leading artistic orchestras in Hungary; it is more and more sought internationally. With its unique concerts and broad programme structure satisfying every age group, it has reinforced its social implementation and quadrupled its audience.
