Music and singing hand in hand

Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra has become the official orchestra of EUROPA CANTAT festival in Pécs, 2015 – the team organising the festival and the management of Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra came to an agreement regarding this and a generally interpreted close cooperation in February, 2015.

The essence of the over 50-year-old tradition of the international choral festival, EUROPA CANTAT, is the acceptance of one another, openness and maintaining high professional standards while creating musical diversity and encouraging widespread public cooperation.
Through cooperation, Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra intends to express its willingness to identify and support the above-mentioned issues and on the other hand it wants to be a part of the festival’s mission; to mediate the inspirational and extraordinarily mobilising power of music.
Within the framework of cooperation and as part of the welcoming event of the festival, Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra is inviting the visitors of the town to a special musical walk. The multiannual tradition intends to introduce the music-related historical sites to the public taking them for a pleasant walk as part of the process. An interesting web application is going to be made by digitally processing the walk.
Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra is giving several concerts in spring and summer in the spirit of EUROPA CANTAT and every member of the orchestra is looking forward to the choral festival. The ensemble is going to participate in recruiting volunteers and is helping to promote this outstanding event in Pécs by its communications activities.
The orchestra is performing with the participating choirs in the festival’s official programme, among others, in Béla Bartók’ Pieces for Five Unisex Choirs with small orchestral accompaniment, Dvorak Hymnus Dedicove Bile Hory, Op. 30/B. 27, Brahms Schicksalslied and Hungarian Dance No. 5 and Zoltán Kodály Kallo Double Dance.
Many of the orchestra’s members are going to play a prominent role during the festival and the ensemble, along with the organisers, is planning to come up with some surprises about which the two organisations will inform the public throughout the year. We are already tuning up..
