Pannon Philharmonic’s Trombonist Won the Paris Trombone Competition

Csaba Bencze, trombone artists of the Pannon Philharmonic and students of the University of Pécs, Faculty of Arts Music Institute is the winner of the International Trombone Assotiation’s Robert Marsteller Trombone Competition in Paris.

For this competition, one can aply with a submitted visual and audio material, on which is based the jury the invitation of three people for the annually held contest. This year, beside two American contestants no-one represented Europe in the finals but Csaba Bencze. It raises the value of the result that if you look at to the winners' names there are rarely found any European winner. That is not the first success of Csaba Bencze: in the summer of 2011, he won the 1st Prize at the 8th Szatmár Brass Music Festival (Fehérgyarmat). In the international arena: in 2007 he got the 2nd Prize at the 6th International Trombone Competition in Brno (Czech Republic); and at the same place in 2009, he won the 1st Prize in the first category, and the "Absolute Winner" award for all categories. His teacher is István Péter Farkas Peter professor, Liszt-Prize-winner trombone artists of the Hungarian State Opera House trombone artist, has benn working there for nearly 40 years. He a s a member of the Budapest Brass Quintet, also won a competition in Paris: the Maurice André International Chamber Music Competition in 1979. István Péter Farkas tells about hispupil: "He is one of the most talented students of my teacher's career. Excellent music capabilities and technical skills characterize his playing. He prepares himself for his tasks, concerts, and competitions very motivated and purposefully ." Csaba Bencze is the Pannon Philharmonic trombone artist. The next season, the audience could enjoy his playing as a soloist of Bourgeois’s Trombone Concertoat at the concert on 11th May 2013.
