Citizens of Pécs,
Dear Capital Citizens,

Both appellations are appropriate, not only addressing the Budapest audience of the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2010 the citizens of Pécs are capital citizens as well, since Pécs holds the title European Capital of Culture for a year.
For the last 200 years the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra has played a significant role in the cultural life of our city, and their existence could support Pécs to gain the capital status. Therefore it is on good grounds that the orchestra was appointed ambassador of the Pécs2010 programme series in 2007.
I trust that in the forthcoming centuries the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra will continue to enchant its audience by its concerts, as well as to enhance the renown of Pécs all over the world.

I wish ever memorable moments both for audience and musicians with the concerts of the festive programme series.
